# Can the Velit Rooftop AC safely operate while driving?

## Whether the 2000R, 2000R Mini, 3000R and V3 can be used on the move:

Our AC systems are completely safe to be used while driving the vehicle! Our aerodynamic design allows for worry-free operation on the go. In fact, our 12v systems are able to run off your vehicle battery directly while the vehicle is running.

**Powering the AC from your alternator**

Per the V3 manual, the 12V V3 draws up to 63A, and your power source should be able to supply 75A or more continuously (check your unit's manual for its exact figures: [https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0623/2840/6253/files/Velit\_V3\_User\_Manual\_0420.pdf?v=1778525072](https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0623/2840/6253/files/Velit_V3_User_Manual_0420.pdf?v=1778525072)). The factory alternator on vans like the Ford Transit, Mercedes Sprinter and Ram ProMaster can handle that while driving.

**Do I need a DC-DC charger or house battery?**

If you only run the AC while driving, no. You don't need a DC-DC charger or a house battery. A DC-DC charger is only needed when you have a house battery to charge.

**How should I connect it?**

Connecting positive and negative directly to the vehicle battery terminals is the most reliable option. If you use an upfitter or auxiliary power feed instead, make sure it's rated for at least 80A, since the manual calls for a 75A+ continuous supply.

**Using it while parked too?**

For parked use we recommend at least a 12V 300Ah battery, or a Comvolt system.
