Ford Transits are a very common and popular application for our gasoline heaters.
Use the Metal Fuel Standpipe
We highly recommend installing the included metal fuel standpipe in the gas tank when installing air heaters on Ford Transit vans. It's common knowledge throughout Ford Transit upfitters that the factory aux. fuel ports on the transit are not well designed for use with gasoline air heaters.
There are plenty of Ford Transits out there running Velit heaters off the factory aux. fuel port, but everything else with fuel lines and fuel delivery needs to be exactly right and you can still expect E01 and E02 error codes being possible at higher elevations or after not being started in a few days, weeks.
Metal Standpipe Install Transit
Tight Under Passenger Seat Configuration
A very common heater location placement is under the passenger seat for the heaters in all the common van types. Ford Transit has a notoriously TIGHT working space for the heaters on the topside and the bottom side. Access below is extremely tight between two frame "beams" so be prepared for that is you decide to place your heater here. There are other installation locations in the Transit that make installation/serviceability with the heater much easier.
Wratching box wrench makes accessing clamps below the heater easier if clamps are on the right clocking position.
A Better Way to Mount the Fuel Pump:
The most common Tansit fuel pump location we see is on the tank straps on the driver's side with the fuel line coming off the standpipe down side of tank directly to it.
Fuel filter is optional and often not required on plastic tanks without known contaminants. Fuel Filter Info
