Helpful list of items to read before and after a Velit air heater installation.
Installation Check-list
Notice
This heater is sensitive to installation quality.
To ensure proper operation and long-term reliability, follow this checklist thoroughly.
Improper installation may result in damage or performance issues not covered under warranty.
Power |
Is the wiring harness extended? If yes, refer to Section XX for proper wire gauge requirements. |
Is the heater connected to a 12V power supply capable of at least 15A continuous output? Cigarette lighter ports on portable power stations are typically rated for 10A max and may not provide sufficient power during startup (ignition) and cool-down cycles. |
Inlet and Exhaust |
Is the air intake positioned clear of tire spray, water, and moisture? |
Is the air intake filter located at least 3 ft (1 m) away from the exhaust outlet? |
Is the intake opening facing away from the direction of vehicle travel? |
Is the exhaust pipe installed with a continuous downward slope (no low points or traps)? |
Is the exhaust outlet positioned in a location free from mud, snow, or debris blockage? |
Is the exhaust tip facing downward to prevent water ingress? |
Fuel Supply |
Is the suction (vacuum) side of the fuel line shorter than 3 ft (1 m)? |
Is the fuel pump installed at an angle between 15°–35°? → The outlet (pressure side) should be higher than the inlet. → The electrical connector should face upward. |
If fuel filter is used, be sure to install it vertically as shown in diagram and not directly connected to the fuel pump. |
Is the fuel pump located no more than 2 ft (0.6 m) above the bottom of the fuel tank? |
Do the fuel lines fully butt together inside the rubber connector (no gaps)? The entire connector section should be hard. |
Is the fuel line routed as short as smoothly possible, avoiding any unnecessary loops or excess length? |
If fuel lines are inside protective loom: Is there at least 1 ft (30 cm) of exposed line to visually confirm fuel flow and check for air bubbles? |
Does the heater draw fuel from a top-mounted, vented fuel source rather than a bottom-fed tank? |
Does the heater have its own fuel standpipe or auxiliary fuel connection, and is it not using T-valves or other spliced-in fuel connections? |
