# How come I can’t clear error codes without resetting the power/fuse to my heater?

The first troubleshooting step with any heater issue is to pull the fuse or reset the power for 15+ seconds, then re-add power to reset the heater. Error codes CANNOT be cleared with the phone app or thermostat controller; a power reset is required, and this is a safety feature.
