Gas Smell from Velit Air Heater
If you are smelling gas inside, or outside, from a Velit Air heater, this almost always indicates a problem with fuel lines / fuel delivery.
We occossionally get support requests from Velit air heater users who report the smell of gas inside their rigs. The assumption is that gas is leaking inside the rig, but that is almost never the actual case as there are two layers of gaskets the fuel would have to make it past.
Rather, gas smell from a Velit air heater is almost always caused by issues with fuel delivery or improper fuel line design or fuel line integrity.
Just a small amount of gasoline can be a very strong smell in a small space. Luckily gasoline evaporates rather quickly and it should go away, but you'll need to address the sub-prime running conditions that led to the gas smell.
The best first step is to understand this is likely not a problem with the heater unit iteself, and rather something with the fuel lines that is in your control to resolve.
The place to start would be reviewing the following article on Fuel Lines and Fuel Delivery:

Other considerations and causes for fuel smell inside cabin:
If the fuel lines are within spec according to all the items covered in the linked article above, there are a few other things to consider.
If fuel smell is coupled with Error 01 and/or Error 02 which is commonly is, then it's most likely a fuel line / fuel delivery related problem. But could also be do to over-priming or failed ignition due to power source not providing enough amperage to properly heat glow plug and the fuel is failing to ignite. In this situation, excess fuel could leak out the combustion air intake tube, rather than building up inside the heat exchanger / combustion chamber.
Ensure you are powering the heater with at least 15+ AMP rated power source. Ensure if you had to extend power wires from the heater wiring harness to reach the power source that the wires are correctly sized up to prevent amperage drop over distance (typically wire extensions are made with 10 or 12 AWG, larger than our provided 14AWG equivelant.
If you provide photos of your fuel lines to Velit support, we can often identify and advise on how to modify/remake fuel lines for proper fuel delivery.
