Can I power my Velit AC unit with a portable power station / solar generator?

Can I run my Velit AC with a power station from EcoFlow, Bluetti, Jackery, Anker or Goal Zero?

Not directly. A portable power station can't power our 12V air conditioner straight from its DC output. It's not because the station lacks capacity, it's because it doesn't have a big enough 12V output. Per the V3 manual, the 12V V3 draws up to 63A and needs a power source that can continuously supply 75A or more, while most power stations can only put out around 10-15A from their 12V ports.

Power requirements (from the V3 manual)

12V: up to 63A operating current, power source should supply 75A+ continuously, 100A fuse

24V: 50A fuse

48V: up to 25A operating current, power source should supply 30A+ continuously, 30A fuse

Other Velit AC models are similar. Always check your unit's manual for its exact figures.

Option 1: Use a 12V power supply

Most power stations have plenty of 120V AC output. Plug a 12V 80A power supply (AC-to-DC converter) into the station's AC outlet and connect the air conditioner to it. It works, but you lose some efficiency in the conversion.

Option 2: Comvolt

We work with Comvolt, which makes a 12V portable power station with a 120A 12V output, large enough to run our AC directly and in the most efficient way. A 4kWh unit can run the AC for about 8-13 hours.

Should I get the 12V or 48V AC?

For most vans we recommend the 12V version. Choose 48V only if you're running a 48V system such as an EcoFlow Power Kit or a Bluetti RV setup.

Running the AC while parked

For parked use we recommend at least a 12V 300Ah battery, or a Comvolt system.
